Project Wellington

The Amarah Studio

Tucked along Wellington Street in the heart of Ottawa, the Amarah Studio, a studio rental space, was one that felt close to my creative core. I was entrusted with designing an accent wall that would bring warmth and character to the space, a backdrop that could speak to both artistry and function.

I chose a warm limewash finish, soft and textured, designed to catch the natural light in the most magical way. The studio’s south-facing orientation quickly became one of its best assets. Throughout the day, sunlight pours in and dances across the limewashed surface, creating a dynamic canvas that evolves with the hours.

The color palette was thoughtfully influenced by natural elements, soft greys, warm whites, and rich brown tones, bringing a grounded, organic feel to the space. This palette not only complements the lighting beautifully but also creates a soothing atmosphere for both creators and clients alike.

One of my favorite vignettes from the studio captures this essence perfectly: a softly arched limewashed wall bathed in gentle daylight, paired with sculptural vases in earthy hues and a wooden bench. Beside it, a curated color scheme showcases the palette that inspired the entire design; deep chocolate brown, muted taupe, calming greige, and creamy warm white. Every tone was selected to evoke warmth, simplicity, and a connection to nature.

This isn’t just a wall, it’s a mood, a setting, and a story all in one. It was important to me to create a space where photographers and content creators could feel inspired the moment they walked in.

Amarah Studio now stands as a reflection of intentional design: a minimalist backdrop rooted in natural warmth and light. A reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful moments come from the simplest, most thoughtfully crafted details.
